Inconsistent Kan on? Practice Ryo on!

Inconsistent Kan on notes?

If your kan on notes sound airy or forced (or both!), don't practice them. Instead, practice your RYO ON!

Ryo on is the foundation of kan on. Your kan on inconsistency tells you your ryo on foundation is not solid. Most likely, you think your ryo on is good because you can make a sound. Making a sound is not good enough.

-Your ryo on needs to be well supported from your diaphragm and must have beautiful resonance, not forced or airy.

—Your Ryo on notes should sound round and rich.

-Your ryo on 1 should feel like it makes your chest cavity vibrate.

-Your lips need to stay relaxed when you play ryo on 7.

Really perfect your ryo on before you practice kan on, because every time you play kan on badly, you are creating a bad habit.

To this day, I practice my ryo on 1, often for hours, and really listen to the tone. You should, too!
